Data we process

• Account and profile data, authentication, passkeys, and sessions
• Watchlist, history, playback progress, reminders, and preferences
• Interaction signals used for personal catalog ordering, such as playback starts and watchlist actions
• Friends, watch parties, chat, and notifications
• When push is enabled: a pseudonymous Apple device token or browser push endpoint with cryptographic keys. This data is used only for delivery, is not logged, and is removed when signing out on that device.
• Security and operational data such as IP address, timestamps, request ID, and error code; passwords, tokens, and content are not written to application logs

Personalized recommendations

Recommendations are calculated within Animira from your watchlist, viewing history, and the genres of those titles. Data is not shared with advertising networks and is not used for cross-platform tracking. Personalization can be disabled in settings at any time.

Purposes and legal bases

Processing provides the requested service, account security, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and compliance with legal obligations. Depending on the operation, it is based on contract or pre-contractual measures, legitimate interests, consent, or a legal obligation.

Cookies and local storage

Animira uses no advertising, audience-measurement, or tracking cookies. Technically necessary or explicitly requested storage includes:

• animira.* – secure sign-in session; up to 30 days
• am_locale – selected language; up to 12 months
• localStorage – selected player volume; until deleted by the user
• sessionStorage – temporary watch-party and filter state; until the browser session ends

For this reason, no general cookie-acceptance banner is shown. If analytics, advertising, or other non-essential storage is added later, it will be blocked by default and activated only after voluntary consent.

External content

YouTube trailers are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com only after explicit approval. YouTube/Google may then receive the IP address and device information. Approval can be disabled in settings. Artwork may be loaded from catalog image sources, which technically receive the IP address.

Retention and rights

Account data is generally retained until account deletion; individual records may be removed earlier through the relevant features. Security logs are retained only as required for operations, abuse prevention, or legal obligations. Data subjects have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, and complaint to a supervisory authority.
